Let’s Talk About Your Diet – Gastonia Chiropractic Care

This week I want to talk about diet. I don’t think anyone really likes that word, but it is something that is important for us to think about if we want to lead a healthy lifestyle. Now I will be the first to say that I do not eat as healthily as I should. I just had chicken nuggets for dinner, for goodness sake. However, there are a few things that I do always try to do in order to be as healthy as I can.

  1. Fruits and Veggies. While I am not a huge fan of most vegetables, the ones that I do like I know how to prepare in many different ways. There are hundreds of ways to use certain veggies, especially broccoli and cauliflower. In fact, there are even ways that you can replace certain carb foods with cauliflower such as pizza crust. While it may seem odd, I think it is always worth a try. Fruits are also important to get a good amount of, but be careful. Too much can be an issue as well due to the natural sugar that most fruits have.
  2. Carb Limits. This is one of my biggest problems. I love pasta and bread, especially if there is garlic on either. Carbs, however, do slow down your metabolism and are difficult to work off. This is one of the most important food groups to limit your intake of and make sure that you control your portions. This becomes increasingly true depending on what you put on the carbs. For example, if you like mac and cheese the way I do you need to be especially careful. Dairy can be difficult as well.
  3. Sweets. We all know that we should limit our intake of sweet foods, but it can be so difficult. I am a personal fan of Oreos and they are often my downfall. However, I have to try and make sure that I don’t eat an entire sleeve in one sitting. Unfortunately I’ve done it and I know I’m not alone.

Here at DiBella Chiropractic, we are dedicated to making sure that you lead a healthy lifestyle in every aspect possible. This includes your diet. Come in today and we can talk about what you currently eat and hopefully draw up a plan of foods that will satisfy both your tastes and your health.
