This week, we are focusing on car accidents and the damage they can cause. One of the most important things about your life after a severe accident is your own care. This can be physical as well as mental care, as both can be heavily affected by a car crash. Those of us here at DiBella Chiropractic want to make sure that you are healthy in every way, and so here are some tips for dealing with issues after a car accident.

  1. See A Doctor! It doesn’t matter if your accident was a small fender bender or a life changing crash. You always want to see a medical professional after an accident to get a clean bill of health. This is the most important thing you can do for yourself to help your recovery.
  2. Ask For Help. If you have been seriously injured, there is nothing wrong with asking for help with things. If you are out of work or have trouble doing certain activities around the house, reach out to your friends and family to see if they can offer you support. Remember, you still need to eat and rest. Asking someone to help you cook or pick up some things at a store is not a sign of weakness. Those who love you will be more than happy to help, and this can support both your physical recovery and your mental health after an accident. Even asking a neighbor for a ride to the store can help, so don’t feel bad doing so.
  3. Utilize Your Hobbies. Keeping your mind sharp and off the trauma is something that you should focus on after a severe car accident. Doing a crossword or a search-a-word is a great way to keep your mind working without having to do much physical movement. If you have a hobby that you can partake in after a crash, this is also a good idea. There is nothing wrong with taking a little time for yourself after a traumatic event.

Those of us here at DiBella Chiropractic hope that you never need to use these tips. Unfortunately, we also know that these things do occur at a much higher rate than we like to think about. If you have been hurt, come into our office and see if a chiropractic adjustment can help to relieve the pain. We will do everything we can to get you feeling like your old self again!
